How Much Do Lash Artists Make in Toronto?

This question deserves a real answer instead of a number pulled from a salary website.

Published figures for lash artist income vary enormously, and most of them are not much use to you, because lash income is almost never a salary.

It is a calculation. Once you can run it yourself, you can answer this question for your own situation instead of someone else's.

The Only Formula That Matters

Your income is your service price, multiplied by how many services you actually complete, minus what each service costs you to deliver, minus your fixed costs.

Every one of those four numbers is something you influence.

Service Price

Set by your market, your skill, and your positioning.

Research what is charged near you rather than nationally. Toronto varies widely across the city, and a price that works downtown may not work in your neighbourhood. The reverse is also true, and that surprises people.

Capacity Is the Number Most People Ignore

This is where new artists are most often caught out.

A full set that takes you three hours in your first year may take ninety minutes in your third. Same price, twice the capacity, without raising anything.

Speed is income. So is retention, because a client who rebooks costs you nothing to find.

Cost Per Service

Adhesive, lashes, shields, solutions, disposables, laundry, card fees.

Most artists have never calculated this per service, which means they do not actually know their profit on anything they sell.

Fixed Costs

Rent or room rental, insurance, software, education, marketing.

These continue whether you are booked or not, which is exactly why capacity matters as much as it does.

The Takeaway

Anyone quoting you one income figure for lashing is guessing, because the answer depends on four variables that are specific to you.

Early income is usually modest while you are still slow and still building a client base. That is normal, and it is temporary.

Learn the calculation first. It is the difference between hoping the business works and knowing whether it does.
